Hiphop Vinyls Cake

Just a quick one I did a few weeks back now for a friend's birthday.

My first time I have gotten to create a wood effect base board out of fondant! It was heaps of fun and super effective so now I'm looking for every excuse to keep doing it.

Mr Higgins!

This past long weekend I went to a course at Whimsical Cakehouse and completed a course with Kaysie Lackey from The Peoples Cake.

We created "Mr Higgins" the butler cake!

After 3 very long days! (8am - 5pm) and going through up and down emotions with Mr Higgins I can safely say I am in love with him.

Kaysie is an amazing artist and it was a fantastic experience to be able to learn from her.

Noxus Noms - Cottontail Teemo!

Hey everyone, its another competition cake, yay!
It's no secret I'm a bit of a gamer girl and quite enjoy spending my time playing some video game (while I'm not making cakes of course!) So making cakes related to gaming is always super fun.

So this cake I created for the "Noxus Noms" League of Legends food competition.
I decided to create a Cottontail Teemo as he's super cute and I wanted a bit of a challenge in making him stand up.
His is sculpted all from carrot cake and is supported with one central dowel, he is then covered in a white chocolate ganache and covered in a thin layer of fondant which has been texture and coloured.

Peach Love birds

A simple elegant pretty wedding cake for this previous weekend.
The colours scheme was peach and the bird toppers are created all out of icing, the original design for them was provided by the client.

ITS A FAKE!

Well its not really a fake technically hehe its my cake version of the famous Hermes Birkin bag.
These bags retail from $9000 to $150,000 and can have a waiting list of up to 5 years!

So a cake version I think is a lovely sweet option for those of us that aren't lucky enough to own the real thing!

Blue Sugar Orchids engagement

This cake was designed base on the invitations to the engagement party.
I took inspiration in the colours and swirl patterns and incorporated the birds in the stencil around the base of the cake.
I think its a really nice example of how you can reinforce a colour scheme or theme in your event.
The design was completed with some handmade sugar orchids.

Gold/Purple wedding

This might look slightly familiar, I created Rob and Laura's engagement cupcake tower back in August and they decided to continue the gold and purple theme into there wedding cake!
They also added the cute little tokidoki toppers again and a custom crest design and tada!

Baneling Cake

This was a bit of a last minute decision to create this cake. It is for the gaming company Blizzard Entertainment, they run a Blizzard Dessert contest each year and I decided to create a Baneling from their game Starcraft 2.

He is entirely created and sculpted out of Chocolate Mud cake and filled and covered in a green chocolate ganache, then covered in a thin layer of fondant and hand textured and airbrushed with food colours.

And some progress shots...

Princess Pillow!

I had an order this week for one of my previous designs, and it was so great to be able to redo it and change a few things and do certain techniques that I had not learnt when I created it the first time around.
This time I was able to add custom handmade buttons, a better stitching effect, a fondant material board and pearled the cake!
As much as I love new designs this was so fun and rewarding to be able to do a even better job this time!

Rollercoaster Cake!!

This cake was created based on the simple idea of "Rollercoaster"
Awesome!
So I decided to design the cake with a madhatter style 1 tier slope with some cute figurines and an exploding star!

Black, White and Silver Button Wedding Cake

I absolutely loved making this wedding cake! I love the style and elegance it has to it with the different sized tiers and individual edible buttons.
This design was chosen by the couple which is original a SweetandSaucy design.

As they were only needing to serve 50 people the bottom tier is the only cake tier and the two top tiers are foam "dummy" tiers.
The cake was almond and praline layered and covered in a milk chocolate ganache.

Each of the buttons I created a mold for and then pressed out of fondant and hand painted.
The cake is then completed with a sugar handmade peony flower.

The Cake on display at its Venue, Quay Restaurant.

Gold and Purple Cupcake Tower

My first ever cupcake tower!
This was for an engagement party and has 130 cupcakes in total and a 7" Round Cutting cake. Half the cupcakes were Chocolate mud with a dark Chocolate ganache and the other half were almond/praline with white chocolate ganache.
Got to try out some fun new things on this job, my new airbrush got christened with gold edible paint along with the rest of the kitchen...
I am now a Satin Ice fondant user, no going to back to the old stuff!

Coca-cola Can!

Last week I created a coca-cola can cake for a fellow colleague leaving work, needless to say he consumes his fair share of coke :)
Fun cake to create! Adjusted the nutritional information panel with a few jokes for him.
